Liquid Displacement Pipettor by STRATEC

Liquid Displacement
Pipettor

STRATEC’s Liquid Displacement Pipettor is a steel probe liquid-filled pipetting module offering the utmost pipetting performance.

The STRATEC Liquid Displacement Pipettor is a fully automatic pipetting module for OEM liquid handling applications that require highest pipetting performance, precision, and reliable process control. Fluid aspiration and dispensing are performed via a liquid-filled pipetting system with a steel probe, enabling highly accurate and stable liquid handling. The optimized fluidic channel is designed for low dead volume, low eddying, and efficient cleaning, while flexible pipetting profiles support a wide range of applications, including multi-aspirate and multi-dispense operations.

The syringe drive, syringe, and liquid reservoir are integrated into the pipettor housing, contributing to a compact and robust design. Advanced sensors for pressure monitoring, optical liquid verification, capacitive liquid level detection, and dynamic motion control support precise process control throughout each cycle. Ceramic components, a maintenance-free syringe, and an end-user exchangeable tubing coil further enhance lifetime, usability, and system reliability, making the STRATEC Liquid Displacement Pipettor a powerful solution for demanding OEM pipetting applications.

Features of STRATEC’s Liquid Displacement Pipettor

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What are the main advantages of the STRATEC Liquid Displacement Pipettor?

The STRATEC Liquid Displacement Pipettor combines high pipetting performance with a compact and robust design. Its liquid-filled steel probe system is less sensitive to environmental influences than air displacement pipettor and supports high-speed liquid movement, minimal carry-over, and efficient cleaning. In addition, the module does not require consumables and helps reduce instrument deck space.

  • How does the Pipettor support process control?

The module integrates multiple sensors to monitor pipetting performance throughout the cycle. A pressure sensor supports clot detection and monitors rinse pressure, Optical Liquid Verification (OLV) enables volume monitoring of aspirated and dispensed liquid, capacitive liquid level detection confirms liquid presence, and the encoder on the pump drive supports dynamic motion control.

  • What features support cleaning and maintenance?

The optimized fluidic channel is designed for efficient cleaning and allows rinsing with system liquid at pressures of up to 5 bar. In addition, the maintenance-free syringe concept, ceramic components for enhanced lifetime, easy probe replacement, and the integrated tubing coil, which can be exchanged by the end user, support low-maintenance operation and long-term usability.

  • How does the Liquid Displacement Pipettor support accurate and reliable liquid handling?

The flexible flow profile parametrization supports both single and multi-aspirate and -dispense operation which allows the adaption of the pipetting process to a wide range of different applications. The robust mechanical design including the integrated liquid reservoir and syringe contribute to a precise and reliable pipetting performance.

  • What are the key performance specifications?

The pipettor has a nominal volume of 1000 µl and a supported pipetting range of 1 to 1000 µl. Volume resolution is 0.33 µl, and maximum pump drive speed is 1000 µl/s. Depending on target volume, accuracy reaches up to ≤ 0.6% and precision CV reaches up to ≤ 0.2%. *
